New Addition

by Rich on Feb.28, 2006, under General

Kimberly and I went to Sweet Binks tonight hoping to find a new friend for Caesar, who lost his bond mate last week (Kimberly posted about it on her site). Thanks to Pam’s magic, the first bun she picked seemed to be a perfect match. Say hello to our new Checkered Giant, Livia!

Livia, a Checkered Giant

Livia was the first wife of Caesar Augustus, so we thought that it was an appropriate name for our little guy’s new friend.

Update: Why does this always happen to US? A visit to our veterinarian prompted a quick name change. Livia, is no longer Livia. He now goes by Julius!

Problems with “The Bank”

by Rich on Jan.24, 2006, under General

Have you ever had a problem with your bank? Up until a couple of weeks ago I would have answered “No” to that question. I’ve had an account with my bank since mom and I opened my first account together when I was just a kid (Hodell, if you’re reading this, NO COMMENTS! :P ), and I really haven’t experienced any problems that weren’t corrected quickly. Even recently when “The Bank” took money out of my account that they said I didn’t deposit, the matter was quickly resolved and the money returned.

Although my account was a little short for one day, I was pleased with how everything was handled. They made a mistake, found the error, and quickly corrected it. Now, imagine my surprise when I login to their Internet banking two weeks later and find out that they did it to me again, only this time I also find the following:

Negative $889,203.56?!

That’s not a typo folks! Negative $889,203.56! Hey, even I’ve had my share of overdrafts in the past, but that’s just wrong! What the hell are they up to now?!

Wish List

by Rich on Nov.28, 2005, under General

With the Christmas season fast approaching, I find that I am once again being asked that dreadful question:

“What do you want for Christmas?”

I always have a hard time answering this question. Either I have absolutely no idea what I want (which is usually the case), the item that I want costs too much, or I end up buying it myself (see the two P&W engines listed at the bottom of my Wish List).

I was determined to have an answer to that question this year. So with a little thought, and a lot of nagging from my wife (thanks Honey!), I was actually able to come up with a Wish List this year. I try to tell myself that I’ll keep this up to date so she or anyone else has a place to get ideas from, but we both know that won’t happen, at least not without more continuous nagging. ;)

Gaspee Days Parade 2005

by Rich on Jun.11, 2005, under General

What a day for a parade! Clear skies, temperature in the high 80’s, and a sports bottle filled with your favorite liq… uh drink. :)

Gaspee Days Parade

That’s right people; the Annual Gaspee Days Parade is back in town! Kimberly and I spent the morning in a couple of lounge chairs watching it go by. The parade attracts thousands of people each year. Lucky for us though, we live just four houses in from the parade route. This means that we don’t have to drive around for an hour looking for a place to park, just like the person who parked on our lawn a couple of years ago probably had to do. :)
Like last year, I was able to get a photo of just about every group that was in the parade (ok, so I missed a couple…). You can check them out in the gallery.
