Ah… There’s nothing better than the Red Sox, a Fenway Frank, cold beer, 30 degree weather…

30 degrees?!?! Ok, so it wasn’t quite that cold, but it felt like it at times, and I COULD see my breath around the 6th or 7th inning.

The O’s are in town for the first of a three game series, and David Wells is pitching (edit: not very well!). I was really hoping to see Curt Shilling, but since he pitched Saturday down in Tampa, it wasn’t to be. Kimberly and I try to catch a couple of the Orioles/Red Sox games each season. I’m the Sox fan, and her favorite team is the Orioles, so it makes for a pretty cool rivalry between us. The best Orioles/Red Sox game we’ve seen to date was probably Cal Ripkin’s last game in Fenway park. We were right behind the visiting dugout and had a great view of Cal playing 3rd base. It was cool to see everyone in Fenway cheering for him to hit a home run on his last at bat.

Anyway, it’s starting to look like this is going to be another tough outing against the O’s. I’m not sure why, but the Sox seem to have a hard time beating them at home. We’ve probably seen five or six Orioles/Red Sox games at Fenway and the Sox have only won one of those games (and that was a 9th inning comeback!). I’ve been told that every team has at least one rival that they have a hard time beating at home, even if that rival normally doesn’t play that good. I guess for the Red Sox that team would be the Orioles.

Time to get back to the game. Wish them luck! It looks like they’ll need it!
